Aksaray Turkey

Aksaray is located at the western tip of the Cappadocia region, separated from the town of Nidge by the extinct Hassan volcano. It is the capital of the province of the same name, one of the four in which the tourist region of Cappadocia is divided. The importance of this city lies in its long history as an urban center. Known in antiquity as Archelais Garsaura, this region of Anatolia was one of the first to be populated during the Neolithic period, as evidenced by archaeological sites dating back to 5000 BC.
