Aksaray Turkey

Aksaray is situated at the westernmost point of the Cappadocia region, separated from the town of Nidge by the dormant Hassan volcano. It serves as the capital of the province bearing the same name, one of the four that make up the tourist region of Cappadocia. The significance of this city is rooted in its extensive history as an urban center. Known in ancient times as Archelais Garsaura, this region of Anatolia was among the first to be inhabited during the Neolithic period, as demonstrated by archaeological sites dating back to 5000 BC.
