Suzuka est située au nord-est de la préfecture de Mie, dans le nord de la péninsule de Kii, bordée par la baie d'Ise à l'est. Certaines parties de la ville se trouvent à la frontière du parc naturel préfectoral d'Ise-no-Umi et du parc quasi national de Suzuka. Suzuka, en tant que nom de lieu, est mentionné dans la chronique Nihon Shoki de la période Nara. L'ancien Tōkaidō passait par Suzuka et la capitale de province de la période de Nara était située à l'intérieur de ses frontières. Suzuka possède un important marché industriel, avec des usines majeures pour Sharp et Honda dans ses limites.
