3. Wadduwa
Stay
About the destination: Around Wadduwa and Kalutara, about 40 km south of Colombo, is the centre of the traditional cocos fibre basket, but also for rubber production and Arrak production the region is known. The resorts are surrounded by tall coconut palms and blend harmoniously into the landscape, the sandy beaches invite for long walks. The railway line to the south runs close to the coast line, in some hotels can be heard in time train tracks. Especially during the rainy season the surf is often very strong and the sea is not suitable for bathing. The best travel time for the west coast is from November to April.
