Miami International Airport, Florida United States of America

Miami International Airport, also referred to as MIA and historically known as Wilcox Field, is the main airport for the Miami area in Florida, United States. It handles over 1,000 daily flights to 167 domestic and international destinations, making it one of three airports serving this region. The airport is located in an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County, 8 miles northwest of Downtown Miami, in the metropolitan area of Miami. It is adjacent to the cities of Miami and Miami Springs, and the village of Virginia Gardens. Other nearby cities include Hialeah and Doral, as well as the Census-designated place of Fontainebleau. MIA is the primary airport for long-distance international flights in South Florida and serves as a hub for the Southeastern United States. It offers passenger and cargo flights to cities across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Western Asia, and cargo flights to East Asia. It is the largest gateway between the United States and Latin America, and is one of the biggest airline hubs in the United States. This is due to its close proximity to tourist attractions, its contribution to local economic growth, the large local Latin American and European populations, and its strategic location for handling connecting traffic between North America, Latin America, and Europe.
