East Renfrewshire United Kingdom

East Renfrewshire is one of 32 council areas in Scotland. Until 1975, it was part of the county of Renfrewshire for local government purposes, together with what are now the council areas of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. Although it is no longer a local authority area, Renfrewshire still remains the registration county and lieutenancy area for East Renfrewshire. The East Renfrewshire local authority was formed in 1996 as the successor to the Eastwood district, along with Barrhead, which came from the Renfrew district. Its longest border is with East Ayrshire, followed by the City of Glasgow, then Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire, and finally a very short border with North Ayrshire.
