Balapitiya Sri Lanka

Balapitiya is a coastal town in southwest Sri Lanka, located in the Southern Province. It lies about 80 km (50 mi) south of Colombo, roughly a two-hour drive from the capital, and is the closest town to the Maduganga River. Any stay in Balapitiya deserves a tour along the Madu River to discover the islands and floating communities where various cinnamon products are made, and birdwatching is one of the must-do activities.
