Oludeniz Turcaí

Ölüdeniz (literally “Dead Sea”, named for its calm waters even during storms; officially translated as the “Blue Lagoon”) is a small village and beach resort in the Fethiye district of Muğla Province, on the Turquoise Coast in the southwest of Turkey, where the Aegean and Mediterranean seas meet. It lies about 14 km south of Fethiye, close to Mount Babadağ. Ölüdeniz is still one of the most photographed beaches on the Mediterranean. It features a sheltered sandy bay opening onto a blue lagoon, with the main shoreline being a pebble beach. The lagoon is protected as a national nature reserve and new building is strictly forbidden. The seawater here is renowned for its vivid shades of turquoise and aquamarine, and the beach holds official Blue Flag status, regularly ranking among the top five beaches in the world in the eyes of travellers and travel publications alike.
