East Renfrewshire United Kingdom

East Renfrewshire is one of 32 council areas in Scotland. Until 1975, it was part of the county of Renfrewshire for local government purposes, along with what are now the council areas of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. Although it’s no longer a local authority area, Renfrewshire is still the registration county and lieutenancy area for East Renfrewshire. The East Renfrewshire local authority was created in 1996, succeeding the Eastwood district and including Barrhead, which had been in the Renfrew district. Its longest border is with East Ayrshire, followed by the City of Glasgow, then Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire, and a very short border with North Ayrshire.
