Korčula Croatia

Korčula is an island in the Adriatic Sea, in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County of Croatia. It’s the second most populous Adriatic island after Krk. There’s a huge range of things to do on Korčula. The beaches offer stunning views of the karst coastal ranges, and you can also see the nearby coastal village of Orebić. There are two sandy beaches on Korčula just east of the village of Lumbarda, one on the north coast and one on the south coast at the narrowest point of the island. The Korkyra Baroque Festival is a relatively new annual international event, showcasing some of the world’s leading ensembles and soloists specialising in Baroque music. Twelve concerts are held over ten days, along with a series of events focused on Baroque music. As well as its strong artistic credentials, the festival highlights the richness of Korčula’s cultural monuments and the old town as a unique architectural gem. Korčula also caters for visitors looking for a bit more activity. As well as two nightclubs, tourists can experience the traditional island Sword Dance, where performers stage a historical battle with elegant choreography. Local shops also offer bike hire if you’d like to explore the island properly.
