Balapitiya Sri Lanka

Balapitiya is a coastal town in south‑west Sri Lanka, located in the Southern Province. It lies about 80 km (50 miles) south of Colombo, roughly a two‑hour drive from the capital, and is the closest town to the Maduganga River. Any stay in Balapitiya should include a boat trip along the Madu River to explore the islands and floating communities where various cinnamon products are produced, and birdwatching is one of the must‑do activities.
